The first slate of films that are expected to screen at the 2011 Toronto Film Festival and it is a brilliant line up of movies. Both the gala screenings and the special presentations are full of all the movies that are expected to bring the cinema screen to life at the end of the year after a dismal first half.

Some of the films are US premieres of stuff that has already been shown at Cannes and some of it will be world premieres from some great directors. The ones of interest include George Clooney‘s The Ides of March, Bennett Miller‘s Moneyball, Luc Besson‘s The Lady, Alexander Payne‘s The Descendants and so many more. The festival will also welcome back resident Canadian David Cronenberg and his psychosexual drama A Dangerous Method.

The only glaring omission from this list as Deadline pointed out is Tinker, Tailor, Soldier, Spy which was widely expected to be shown. However with this fantastic line up, its hard to be disappointed.
