As reported by Bloody Disgusting, director Rob Zombie took to Instagram earlier this morning to confirm that Phillips, best known for his roles across Halloween 2, The Lords of Salem and 31 – three films that just so happen to have been directed by Zombie – has officially climbed aboard.

Alas, the filmmaker stopped short of divulging any firm details relating to Phillips’ on-screen character, but we know he’ll be rubbing shoulders with the likes of Sid Haig (Captain Spaulding), Austin Stoker (Assault on Precinct 13), Bill Moseley, Sheri Moon Zombie and, as of Tuesday, Dee Wallace, the industry veteran whose résumé includes credits for E.T., The Howling and Cujo.

Meanwhile, the announcement of Phillips came bearing the following caption: “Casting news update: zombie regular Jeff Daniel Phillips is back. #3fromhell #robzombie #jeffdanielphillips.”

Jeff Daniel Phillips 3 From Hell

After House of 1000 Corpses and The Devil’s Rejects – two cult favorites of the horror genre – Rob Zombie is now ready to close out his trilogy with 3 From Hell. It’ll spell the return of Captain Spaulding, Otis Driftwood and Vera-Ellen “Baby” Firefly, who were last seen in the midst of a tense police shootout back in 2005. But after 13 long, long years on the sidelines, Zombie’s ragtag trio are all set to stage their comeback.

And we couldn’t be more excited, not least because Rob Zombie recently teased “insanity” from the set. Further details on 3 From Hell and its expected release window will likely surface over the coming weeks, so be sure to stay tuned to We Got This Covered for more.
