8 Awesome Moments From The Justice League Comic-Con Trailer

One of the biggest surprises to come out of this year's San Diego Comic-Con had to be the first trailer and poster for Justice League. While there was a lot of speculation that we might get a group photo at the very least, no one expected footage to be shown at such an early stage in production, and the chances of it being released online seemed even slimmer. After learning from their mistakes last year though (when the leaked Suicide Squad trailer forced them to upload an official version), Warner Bros. delivered the first sneak peek for Justice League on Saturday, and a strong argument could be made for it being the best thing to come out of the annual event this year. Regardless of your opinion on that though, there's no denying that the near three minute preview offered up a lot of great moments which are sure to be relived over and over until we get our next look at the highly anticipated release from director Zack Snyder. So, with that in mind, what you'll find here are the 8 best scenes from the preview along with a look at what makes them so great. Enjoy, and be sure to leave a comment down below once you're done reading to let us know if we missed any moments that stood out to you. 8) Cyborg (When He's Finished) Something which stands out in both the trailer and first official image from Justice League is the fact that Cyborg is far from finished. He looks ok here, but the special effects are reminiscent of how Green Lantern appeared in the teasers for his film several years ago. Seeing as Justice League isn't set to be released until next November, there's obviously plenty of time to fix that, and it's hard to actually fault the design Snyder has gone for here. Clearly more man than machine, the fact that even his jaw is robotic really emphasizes the sheer amount of trauma Victor Stone went through to become a "superhero." Based on the way he speaks to Batman, Cyborg has something of a chip on his shoulder too, and the groundwork is all there for him to be a real standout in the film. 7) Barry Allen's Taste In Television Barry Allen's apartment is very unique as it has several monitors set up and looks almost like something you'd see a hacker in Mr. Robot using. Whether or not this version of the Fastest Man Alive is something of a tech genius remains to be seen, but it actually makes sense that someone with a mind like his would need to divide his attention up like this. One particularly cool Easter Egg for fans of Rick and Morty is the fact that the screen behind Bruce Wayne is actually playing an episode of the hit Adult Swim series. That instantly makes Barry more likeable (because anyone who likes that series obviously has awesome taste), and also perhaps sheds some light on his personality and the fact that he's obviously quite a bit more youthful than the rest of this superhero team. 6) A New Type Of Aquaman Despite DC's efforts to reboot Aquaman in 2011, decades of jokes being made at his expense in pretty much all forms of media has led to him being labelled as a lame superhero who talks to fish. While it's true that Arthur Curry can communicate with and control them, he's not exactly sitting at the bottom of the sea having a chat with a flounder in his spare time. He's actually a bona fide badass, and that's something which is made clear in this trailer for Justice League. As well as not taking any sh*t from Bruce, Aquaman can be seen swigging vodka and being swallowed by a wave, all of which makes him look extremely cool. Throw in the fact that his version of being a hero is helping starving villagers, and it seems like we're getting a very different take on this DC mainstay. 5) The Dark Knight's New Costume We see a lot of very cool costumes in this first look at Justice League, but the upgrades made to Batman's wardrobe are definitely a highlight. While the suit he donned in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice was undeniably perfect, putting him all in black instead of the grey is a look which arguably works even better and helps to move the character past his The Dark Knight Returns inspired costume from that divisive release. A few other subtle changes like the mask and the fact that it appears to be a little more streamlined also help, while we know from those recent set visits that the Caped Crusader is also sporting some new armour underneath so he can hang with the super-powered members of this team when they assemble to take on Steppenwolf and his Parademons. 4) The Flash's Costume And Powers Going into Justice League, one of Zack Snyder's biggest challenges had to be making sure that Ezra Miller's version of The Flash is different to the wildly popular small screen one played by Grant Gustin. Yes, Snyder has a budget that's probably more than what an entire season of The CW series costs to make, but seeing as that show has pretty much nailed the way Barry moves, finding a unique new way to portray The Fastest Man Alive's abilities was a must. Luckily, it appears as if the filmmaker has achieved that with the use of some great slow motion and lightning effects. It feels like this Flash's powers are almost out of control because he's so strong, while the costume itself looks really original. Don't worry if you're not a fan though, as Batman apparently builds a new one for him at some point. 3) The Humour Since the release of this first trailer for Justice League, many have argued that it feels more like a Marvel movie than Man of Steel and Batman V Superman. That's more than likely deliberate after the mixed response to both of those films, and while it could be argued that Warner Bros. is almost trying too hard here to assure us that they can be funny as well, the fact that the jokes all land is a very good sign. Of course, it would be a shame is so much focus has been put on a lighter tone that Justice League loses the seriousness which actually helped those previous DC Comics adaptations stand out from the crowd, but the signs are currently pointing to Snyder finding a strong balance based on this preview. 2) Batman Leads The League While we don't get to see what brings Cyborg to the team, the fact that it's Batman who seemingly assembles the Justice League feels like the right move. He's always been the de facto leader in the comic books, and chances are that will be the status quo in this movie, too. There are a lot of reasons why that's so appealing, especially as we'll no doubt see the Dark Knight butting heads with the likes of Superman and Aquaman, two other very headstrong superheroes who will likely have their own thoughts on how things should be done. However, the fact that Wonder Woman seems to be there right alongside him is no bad thing, and if she's a co-leader of sorts (she appears to be actively involved with putting the team together anyway), then that's actually even better for this movie. 1) No Superman It may sound almost like a contradiction, but one of the best things about this trailer is what we don't see in it. I'm obviously referring to Superman because while we all know he'll return after being killed by Doomsday (he's standing front and centre in that group shot for God's sake), the fact that Warner Bros. is keeping the method of his resurrection under wraps is smart. This is something fans should spend the next year talking about, and it absolutely shouldn't have been addressed in this trailer or any future ones. It's inevitable that one of them will probably at one point show the Man of Steel standing alongside the rest of the heroes, but the lack of Superman in this first preview has only helped to heighten expectations and excitement for his revival.
