A disaster flick so bad its own star completely disowned it takes Netflix by storm

Not just a box office bomb, but a black mark on the filmographies of everyone involved.

Spare a thought for poor Toby Kebbell and his ongoing battle to recement himself as the seriously good actor he is despite being utterly defeated by 2015’s horrendous Fantastic Four. But there’s one film, far, far worse than his attempted superhero film, and it’s worming its way up the Netflix charts.

The Hurricane Heist, one of the dumbest movies you may ever see, is suddenly taking Netflix audiences for a wild ride. There’s being stupid, then there’s this film. Disaster films are very much an acquired taste, but this particular one was one of the biggest box office failures of 2018.

Despite this, The Hurricane Heist is getting some redemption on Netflix. Debuting this week on the platform, five years on from release, it has nestled itself in sixth spot on the official charts. With just over 10 million hours viewed, you’ll be left wondering if audiences signed up to watch it like a bunch of sadomasochists.

The plot, if you can call it one, sees a heist attempted amidst the chaos and bedlam of a category five hurricane in Alabama. If you enjoy trucks completing ridiculous and unrealistic maneuvers around hurricanes, boy, is this the movie for you.

Making its sudden return even funnier is star Kebbell making fun of the film recently. The Englishman cracked self-deprecating jokes on how the film almost ruined his career, describing The Hurricane Heist as one of the worst movies ever made, and almost entirely a cash-grab. Full respect to him for owning up to his terrible movies.

Gluttons for punishment can enjoy The Hurricane Heist on Netflix.
