A Sony Marvel star being linked to the MCU’s ‘Fantastic Four’ has fans praying for the rumors to end

Enough is enough...

We’re now less than 24 full months from the MCU’s much-anticipated Fantastic Four movie hitting theaters, and we still have no idea who will be making up Marvel’s First Family in the film, which comes from WandaVision director Matt Shakman. Typically, Marvel locks in its next new major cast members well in advance — see Brie Larson’s casting as Captain Marvel in 2016 and Mahershala Ali as Blade in 2019 — but on this occasion all FF fans have to go on are endless rumors.

The latest one, pointing to a star from Sony’s own Marvel universe being a guide to the MCU’s depiction of Sue Storm, may be one rumor too far. It’s leaving folks praying that Kevin Feige and his crew announce some official news and spare us any more of these dubious casting claims. This all started with insider Jeff Sneider sharing that the studio wants an actress like Dakota Johnson — set to star in Sony’s Madame Web — for its Invisible Woman.

On the one hand, Johnson fans were interested to hear about this alleged intel, using it to spur some further potential names for Sue Storm.

Some were even hopeful that Kraven the Hunter borrowing from the MCU means Johnson could take on the role herself.

On the other hand, many fans are too burned out from all these rumors to care anymore and just need Marvel to make an actual announcement.

There will be dancing in the streets once the real Fantastic Four are found.

One commenter’s use of a Kylo Ren reaction GIF was pretty ironic, given Adam Driver’s own stint in the Fantastic Four rumor mill.

Honestly, it’s getting to the point that we’ll only believe who’s actually starring in Fantastic Four when we’re sitting down to watch the thing.

Fantastic Four is on course to open in theaters on Valentine’s Day 2025.
