Adam McKay Says No To Anchorman 3

Anchorman-2-Ron-Burgundy1

Unfortunately, Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues was the last outing for Ron Burgundy. Despite the film receiving decent reviews and doing fairly well at the box office, writer/director Adam McKay has revealed that there will not be an Anchorman 3. Speaking to Empire, McKay said that while he enjoyed working on the films, he won’t be making a third one.

It’s done. I think that’s it. It was great to do it and it was so fun to work with those guys again, but I think that’s it for Ron Burgundy. Now we’re releasing this alt version, so we’re totally satisfied. No Anchorman 3.

The interviewer then asked if perhaps there would be a sequel maybe 10 years down the road, to which the director replied:

I’m going to say definitely no. I’ll actually say it in this case!

So, just in case you’re still unsure, the answer is no. There will most definitely not be an Anchorman 3. That being said, fans will get one last chance to see Ron Burgundy on the big screen when Paramount releases an R-rated cut of Anchorman 2: The Legend Continues this Friday. It will contain a ton of new jokes (753, to be exact) and will be your last chance to see Will Ferrell in what is no doubt one of his most iconic roles.

Tell us, do you think that Adam McKay is making the right decision in saying no to an Anchorman 3? Sound off below!
