With Barry Levinson signed to direct and John Travolta in the lead, the biopic of mobster John Gotti called Gotti: Three Generations is coming together nicely. Now they’ve added a stalwart to the cast. Al Pacino has joined and will play Gambino crime under boss Neil Dellacroce. This reunites the actor with Levinson, having previously worked on the terrific, Emmy winning HBO film You Don’t Know Jack.
The other interesting news about Gotti: Three Generations is that writer/director James Toback has been brought in to rewrite and polish the screenplay, originally written by Leo Rossi. Toback also has previous work with Levinson, Toback wrote the Oscar nominated screenplay for Bugsy, about the gangster Bugsy Siegel. So Toback has some form in this area, and should make for an interesting script.
Al Pacino joins a very diverse cast that includes Kelly Preston, Ella Bleu Travolta, Joe Pesci and Lindsay Lohan.
