American Psycho Is The Next Film To Be Remade

By

Deadline is bringing us news that American Psycho, one of my favorite films, is going to be remade. Noble Jones, a second unit director on The Social Network, will write the screenplay and direct the film. As for who will star as Patrick Bateman, the role that Christian Bale made famous in 2000, that’s still up in the air.

Honestly, I’m not sure how I feel about this one. Like I said, I really like American Psycho, a lot. Furthermore, I see no reason as to why it should be remade, and especially with a no name writer/director. I guess Lionsgate sees some potential in this one but to be honest, I’m not sure if the film will even do that well.

It didn’t do especially well when it was first released, at least not commercially, and I really can’t see it doing much better at today’s box office. Why take the chance of ruining a classic film for what will undoubtedly bring back a small box office return.

What do you think?

totally agree matt…I am a bit skeptical on this one…the remake has huge shoes to fill and I have a hard time seeing it live up to either the phenomenal book or the under appreciated movie…lets hope they do not…ummm….”butcher” this remake
