An unrated horror soaked in blood and bleakness makes bodies disappear on the streaming Top 10

It's technically a story about family. Well, kind of.

There are so many hidden horror gems out there floating around in the vast nothingness of streaming content libraries that digging up a brand new one is only becoming more difficult, but HBO Max subscribers have stumbled upon 2018’s I’ll Take Your Dead en masse, turning it into one of the platform’s most popular titles.

Per FlixPatrol, co-writer and director Chad Archibald’s eerily unsettling combination of bleak crime thriller and terrifying supernatural nightmare has cracked the Top 10 in countless nations across the world, bringing the unrated exercise in blood-soaked decision-making to a brand new audience.

The story introduces us to Aidan Devine’s William, who has a job that’s as simple as it is harrowing; through circumstances outwith his control, his land has become the go-to place for gang-related bodies to be dumped, and he’s taken it upon himself to make sure the remains are disposed of quickly and efficiently.

However, when a trio of new corpses show up, he’s shocked to discover that one of them isn’t actually dead at all. Deciding that the best course of action is to essentially keep her imprisoned until he figures out a plan, the unlikely duo forge an uncomfortable connection that takes a demonic turn when things start going bump in the night. Or do they?

It’s an intriguing premise pulled off with a certain degree of style and panache, so while I’ll Take Your Dead isn’t going to break new ground or blaze new trails, it’s an easy enough watch for the on-demand gorehounds who can never get enough.
