After three outings as the World’s Greatest Detective (that’d be Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Suicide Squad and Justice League), Ben Affleck has officially retired the cape and cowl – presumably for good, too. Unless, of course, director Matt Reeves has some sort of secret cameo planned for him in The Batman.

Nevertheless, Big Ben’s choice to leave behind the iconic DC hero has naturally sent the Internet into a frenzy, with everyone suggesting candidates that they think would be ideal for Batfleck’s replacement. And though Warner Bros. has yet to give us any indication of who they have their eye on, Revenge of the Fans believes that they know who the studio’s looking at.

On the latest episode of their podcast, they named the following actors as those who’ve been mentioned in regards to the role: Ansel Elgort, Dylan O’Brien, Logan Lerman, Noah Centineo, Jack O’Connell, Kit Harrington, Nicholas Hoult, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Richard Madden, Robert Pattinson and Armie Hammer. Indeed, we’ve heard a lot of these names already, but a few of them are popping up for the first time and overall, it’s an interesting list.

But according to ROTF, a few of these men are already out of the running, and those individuals are as follows: Ansel Elgort, Dylan O’Brien, Logan Lerman and Noah Centineo. Frankly, we don’t think anyone will be too crushed to see these names crossed off here, but it’s intriguing nonetheless to learn that at one point or another, they were considered.

Still, that leaves us with quite a few candidates and no real frontrunner. At least we’ve got a better idea though of the type of actor that Warner Bros. wants and while there’s absolutely nothing to say that it’ll be one of those aforementioned names who’ll ultimately land the gig, we could certainly see most of them in the role.

In any case, now that The Batman‘s finally about to get off the ground, expect an announcement on who’ll be stepping into the part fairly soon.
