Did Laurence Fishburne Just Spoil Ant-Man And The Wasp’s Big Twist?
Laurence Fishburne, star of The Matrix and John Wick: Chapter Two, is running the risk of spoiling Ant-Man and the Wasp‘s big twist long before it’s arrived in theaters.
The venerable actor has been out talking to press in anticipation of the sequel’s release on July 6th – for the record, those in the UK have been forced to wait until August 3rd due to the 2018 World Cup – and during an extended interview with Marvel Entertainment (h/t Screen Rant), Fishburne offered up the inside scoop on his Bill Foster and, more specifically, how his character can be traced back to Ghost, Hannah John-Kamen’s elusive big bad.
Essentially, the MCU newcomer all but confirms that Bill Foster and Ghost are actually father and daughter, which would certainly line up with those online rumors:
I have this sort of surrogate daughter, this character called Ghost played by Hannah John-Kamen who is incredible, and we sorta have a father-daughter thing going on.
It’s not an official confirmation, mind you, and as SR points out, Laurence Fishburne was faced with a particularly loaded question about the family values underpinning Ant-Man and the Wasp. He also refers to Hannah John-Kamen’s Ghost as his “surrogate daughter,” so perhaps Bill Foster simply has a stronger connection to the sequel’s chief antagonist than we’ve been led to believe.
Whatever the case, Fishburne recently reflected on his own journey into the MCU, and how he has Marvel über-producer Louis D’Esposito to thank for his role in Ant-Man and the Wasp. It’s by no means his first foray into a Marvel Comics property, either, given he previously lent his voice to the Silver Surfer of Tim Story’s Fantastic Four sequel.
