Why Captain Marvel May Be More Important To Ant-Man And The Wasp Than You Think

Those who’ve already had a chance to see Ant-Man and the Wasp will know that Scott Lang was left in what could be described as a pretty awkward position. Fortunately, though, if Spider-Man can evidently return for a sequel after being turned into dust then we’re sure that Ant-Man can find a way out of his situation, too, and according to a new theory from Screen Rant, Captain Marvel could be giving him a helping hand.

The outlet looks at the mid-credits scene of Ant-Man and the Wasp, in which Paul Rudd’s character ventures into the Quantum Realm only to find himself stuck there. Of course, those who read the comics will know that Scott’s not the only character in the MCU who’s been known to visit this mysterious zone, with Carol Danvers and her associates also having some experience in the field.

“In the comics, Captain Marvel is no stranger to the Quantum Realm,” writes Screen Rant. “The original iteration of the hero, Captain Mar-Vell, claimed to have encountered a fold in time and space that allowed him to be transported to the modern-day world.”

The article then goes on to speculate about how Nick Fury’s distress signal in his Avengers: Infinity War post-credits scene could help bring these two together.

“Assuming that Captain Marvel is a frequent visitor of the Quantum Realm, it’s possible that during one of her voyages she encounters a lost Scott Lang in the alien dimension. With her whereabouts currently unknown, she could be literally anywhere, and perhaps the only way for her to travel back to Earth in the present day is to pass through the Quantum Realm. Since she received Fury’s message around the same time that Scott got trapped in the Quantum Realm, a chance meeting is possible.”

While this all fits in pretty neatly with the recent rumors and speculation on how Captain Marvel will connect to Ant-Man and the Wasp, we’ll likely have a better idea if this is how things will play out once Carole Danvers’ big screen debut is released on March 8th, 2019, before both she and Scott join the fight against Thanos in Avengers 4 on May 3rd.
