Earlier this week, a new report spilled the beans on the potential cameo roles for Aquaman and the Flash in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. While the Scarlet Speedster is expected to appear only as a blur, Jason Momoa has long been confirmed to show up in the flesh as the King of Atlantis as a way to introduce him to the DCCU and set up his character for both Justice League and the 2018 Aquaman solo film.
As it turns out, Batman V Superman may not be the Atlantean’s only big screen appearance next year. If a new rumor is to be believed, he may also show up in David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. It’s long been speculated that Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller has his trident in her trophy case, but now we’re hearing that she may have the bearded hero himself as well.
[zerg]According to Heroic Hollywood’s El Mayimbe (who reported both the trident story and the recent cameo scoop), Aquaman will be seen in captivity on surveillance footage in Batman V Superman, and is being held prisoner by Amanda Waller in Suicide Squad. According to Mayimbe’s sources, Waller is studying and experimenting on Aquaman and captured him “after he fought a mutated shark who is being held in the same prison as he is.”
That shark is, of course, none other than King Shark, who will be played by boxer-turned-actor Raymond Olubowale. Why the two came to blows, and how exactly Waller managed to capture Aquaman, remains a mystery, but if true this is a simple and effective way to bring a character like Aquaman into the fold, and connect Suicide Squad to the larger DC Cinematic Universe.
Of course, this is just a rumor for now, so take it with the requisite grain of salt. We won’t know for sure if it plays out until next summer, when Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice arrives on March 25th, and Suicide Squad bows a few months later on August 5th, 2015.
