Avengers 3 Gets An Official Title, But Infinity War – Part II Is Now “Untitled”

When Marvel Studios announced their Phase 3 slate some time ago, the main event was quite clearly Avengers: Infinity War – Part I and Avengers: Infinity War – Part II. Since then, directors Joe and Anthony Russo have made it clear that the epic sounding movies aren’t actually going to be one big story which will play out over two separate instalments.

Still, they’re shooting them at the same time, so some connectivity seems highly likely, especially as it’s thought that they’ll both revolve around Earth’s Mightiest Heroes taking on Thanos. After confirming earlier this year that the films were going to be retitled though, that’s now appear to have happened, and it really does seem like they will be individual movies.

The first part is now titled Avengers: Infinity War, while the second film is currently being called “Untitled Avengers.” Their respective release dates  – 5/4/18 and 5/3/19 – haven’t changed, but could it be that Marvel now intends to tell Thanos’ story in just the one movie rather than across two parts, similar to the way The Hunger Games concluded?

Like the title of Avengers 4, that’s going to be something we’ll have to wait and see about, but Avengers: Infinity War will no doubt be one of Marvel’s biggest movies yet, and with D23 just around the corner, chances are the studio will clear things up in the near future.
