Avengers 4 Trailer Reportedly Won’t Reveal The Title

Before the highly anticipated first trailer for Avengers 4 became the favorite topic of speculation for your average MCU fan, arguably the most popular question regarding the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War sequel was what the official title would be. And while the film’s teaser looks to be coming our way before the end of the week, the matter of what exactly we’ll be calling this film could be left up for debate a little while longer.

Collider’s Steven Weintraub has already offered his share of reports this week on the long-awaited Avengers 4 trailer, but today, he dropped one more piece of hearsay that could leave many a fan disappointed if it turns out to be correct:

“Already breaking my rule from two days ago.

Hearing the first #Avengers4 trailer will not reveal the title.

Want to be clear I am not 100% on this. Which is why it is a tweet and not a story on @Collider

We should know if my source was right or wrong soon…”

As you can see, Weintraub makes it very clear that he’s not certain on the matter, but given how long Marvel Studios has dragged out this particular reveal so far, we certainly wouldn’t put it past them saving the grand unveiling for another day.

Until recently, it was a popular prediction that the title would be revealed before the release of the first issue of the Avengers 4 Prelude comic on December 5th, with the the assumption being that Marvel wouldn’t release such tie-in material to a movie that didn’t even have a name yet. Alas, the book hit shelves earlier this week with only the title “Avengers Prelude” on the cover.

At this point, you have to wonder if Marvel is taking its hype game too far, seeing how no title could possibly warrant this much build-up. Even studio head Kevin Feige acknowledged back in April that their choice not to reveal the name has “sort of backfired,” and that the title now has “no chance to living up to any expectations of what it’s gonna be.”

Of course, that didn’t stop the producer from sitting on the reveal for at least another eight months, but hopefully the imminent Avengers 4 trailer will give fans more than enough material for the time being.
