After two rip-roaring journeys through the cosmos and a brush with the Mad Titan himself, next up for the Guardians of the Galaxy is a supporting role in Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War.

James Gunn’s madcap A-holes are said to bring levity to the otherwise “dramatic” Infinity War, while we know that their first encounter with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes will come when the Milano crosses paths with Thor, who is presumably drifting through the cosmos following the calamitous events of Ragnarok.

It’s a long-anticipated crossover that left SDCC attendees weak at the knees, and while those of us who weren’t fortunate enough to bear witness to it will have to wait for Marvel to release the first trailer, we do have the next best thing for you today. Seen in the gallery down below is a bunch of new promo art for Avengers: Infinity War, the highlight of which is an awesome group shot that brings together a few of the Guardians with heroes like Cap, Iron Man and Spidey.

The photos come to us courtesy of artist Steve Cas’ Instagram account, as he’s currently working on some stuff for Marvel. In addition to the aforementioned pic, we can also see that he’s been doing some sketches of the Avengers logo as well as a drawing of the Hulk. Nothing found here gives anything away in terms of plot, but seeing heroes like Star-Lord and Cap standing side by side is undoubtedly awesome and only has us that much more excited to witness such a thing happen in live-action.

While projects like Ant-Man and the Wasp and Black Panther are certainly worth paying attention to, it’s Avengers: Infinity War that’s definitely going to be hogging the lion’s share of the spotlight come next year. And even a small piece of promo material like this makes it very clear exactly why that is. After all, seeing these characters sharing the screen – many for the first time – is going to result in a lot of fanboy dreams coming true. That much is for sure.

Thankfully, it shouldn’t be too much longer now before we start to get some actual footage, as Joe and Anthony Russo’s landmark event movie is currently on course for a release on May 4th, 2018, and it’ll herald the advent of Josh Brolin’s Mad Titan and his squadron of galactic accomplices. Yes, after much foreshadowing, we know Thanos to be the primary antagonist of the Russo Brothers’ ensemble piece, who wages an Infinity War to bring ‘balance’ back to the universe. Standing in his way are Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, along with some of their newfound allies: Spider-Man, for one, along with the Guardians of the Galaxy, Black Panther, and even Loki, who appeared to be holding the Tesseract in that leaked teaser trailer.

It’s an event movie that is unlike any other, and we’ll be able to find out what all the fuss is about once Avengers: Infinity War descends upon theaters in less than a year. The fourth, so-far untitled Avengers movie will then release in May of 2019, by which point viewers will be acquainted with Brie Larson’s Carol Danvers and her ’90s-set origin story. March 8th, 2019 is the date for your diaries.
