Avengers: Endgame will forever be remembered as a monumental achievement in blockbuster filmmaking, with the sequel bringing us a crowd-pleasing, effects-driven superhero epic that brought the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Infinity Saga to a thrilling conclusion and also found itself as the highest-grossing movie in history for its troubles.
But Endgame wasn’t just all about the spectacle, as its story was full of emotional moments that had us saying goodbye to some fan-favorite characters. Of course, the most heartbreaking exit was right at the very end of the third act battle when Robert Downey Jr.’s Tony Stark made the ultimate sacrifice to save the universe.
Having been the face of the MCU for over a decade, with Iron Man becoming the franchise’s flagship character almost since his debut, killing off such an icon was always going to shake the fanbase to its core. But as this new poster in the gallery down below proves, while Tony may be gone, he certainly hasn’t been forgotten.
As you can see, this gorgeous piece of art was revealed last weekend at D23 and features designs from Marvel Studios Head of Visual Development Ryan Meinerding. It’s a beautiful one-sheet and would look great on any fan’s wall. Unfortunately, though, it was only available at the aforementioned Disney expo, so if you didn’t get your hands on it there, you may be out of luck unless you can find it on eBay.
And as for Iron Man himself, well, though he’s certainly dead and gone, we may still see Robert Downey Jr. in the MCU again. After all, he already appeared in Spider-Man: Far From Home (albeit via flashback) and if those Ironheart rumors prove true, then we may one day have him voicing the character’s JARVIS in-suit equivalent.
Time will tell if either of those things pan out, but for now, you can feast your eyes on the gorgeous Avengers: Endgame artwork above and share your favorite memories of Tony Stark with us in the comments section below.
