As per last week’s trailer, the pictured model shows the purple conqueror dressed head to toe in armor and wielding a massive new weapon. But while the recent footage offered only a distant, partially obscured glimpse of Thanos’ giant blades, we can see them in much greater detail here, as he prepares to strike whatever sorry creature has got him looking so angry.

You may also notice that the villain is still wearing his trusty Infinity Gauntlet, though it’ll be interesting to see just how faithful this design is to the film itself. After all, if Thanos already has an object that allows him to eradicate countless lives with the mere snap of his fingers, isn’t carrying a big, heavy sword around kind of redundant?

Similarly, you might recall that Thanos chose to lose the armor during Avengers: Infinity War, because he felt that his gauntlet kept him protected enough. With that in mind, the question is raised of why he’s chosen to take precautions again for his next film.

Maybe the Mad Titan is just feeling a little anxious now that pretty much the entire universe has a grudge against him. Then again, one of the most popular theories for Thanos putting on his armor again is that the gauntlet is no longer working as well as it used to, perhaps suffering some damage from the snap. And then, of course, there’s the possibility that the merchandise has been misleading us, and Thanos only puts on the armor after losing the gauntlet or the Infinity Stones.

Whatever the explanation is, we’ll find out when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
