Avengers-Endgame-IMAX-Poster-Cropped

Avengers: Endgame Has Officially Been Rated

With its release quickly approaching, Avengers: Endgame has now been rated by the MPAA, and its rating won't surprise anyone.

A couple of days ago, we learned that box office analysts were pegging Avengers: Endgame for an opening weekend domestic gross in the $200-$250 million range. That’s certainly an impressive range to land in and though it would probably make Marvel happy to see the pic debut somewhere around there, it still falls a bit short of the record-breaking $257.6 million opening that Avengers: Infinity War posted last year.

Of course, one thing that’s got the analysts a bit concerned about Endgame‘s box office prospects is its length. At roughly 3 hours long, theaters won’t be able to schedule in quite as many showings of the film as they would’ve if it was say, 2 hours and 30 minutes, or somewhere around there. And while it likely won’t make a massive difference when all is said and done, the runtime could still mean that the upcoming sequel will earn less than its predecessor.

One thing that won’t hurt its chances to generate cash though is its rating, as Endgame has now been rated by the MPAA and, much to the surprise of no one, received a PG-13 for “Sequences of Sci-Fi Violence and Action, and Some Language.”

So, pretty much what we expected, then. Sure, Endgame will probably be a pretty grim and depressing film – at least, until the heroes find a way to reverse Thanos’ devastating Snap – but don’t go in thinking we’ll be seeing a ton of bloody violence and Cap dropping F-bombs as he takes on the Mad Titan. This is still a Marvel movie and with Disney no doubt breathing down their backs, you can bet that Joe and Anthony Russo ensured things remained family-friendly.

In any case, we’ll get to see for ourselves just how these “Sequences of Sci-Fi Violence and Action” play out in a matter of weeks, as Avengers: Endgame opens on April 26th.
