Though we’ve seen a quite a few shots previously of Thanos in a similar outfit, this particular pic displays his armor in a much darker shade. Given all the merchandise and artwork that’s had the intergalactic conqueror dressed in gold, however, we can probably assume that this black version of the getup is just an aesthetic choice for this particular product.

In any case, Thanos’ armor has already been the subject of a fair amount of speculation from the fans. To elaborate, seeing how the tyrant ditched his armor near the start of Avengers: Infinity War because he felt that his Infinity Gauntlet kept him protected enough, the question is raised of why the character would take precautions in this next film. The most popular theory is that Thanos’ gauntlet was damaged by the snap, and no longer works as well as it used to. Then again, maybe the villain is just feeling a little nervous now that pretty much the entire universe has a grudge against him.

Perhaps the bigger question concerning Thanos, however, is what role he’ll play in the story of next month’s release. Though previous leaks teasing an “even greater threat” have led some fans to predict a new villain entering the fray, you’d think that the next big bad would’ve appeared in at least one promo image or toy leak if that were the case. Regardless, all will be revealed when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
