Avengers: Endgame

There May Be An Avengers: Endgame Reunion At San Diego Comic-Con

With Avengers: Endgame now being less than $25 million away from usurping Avatar at the global box office, it's fair to say Marvel Studios' opus is a motion picture event the likes of which is rarely seen. Then again, when you have eleven years of buildup and a movie packed with beloved characters, people are bound to turn out in droves. That said, I can only imagine how the cast would blow the roof off San Diego Comic-Con like never before - if indeed they were to drop by for a visit.

According to Deadline, such a scenario may occur in a matter of weeks when Marvel Studios returns to Hall H at 11am Pacific on Friday, July 19th. The panel itself is to be conducted by Collider’s editor-in-chief Steven Weintraub, though the only guests who are seemingly guaranteed at this point are Joe and Anthony Russo. Still, it’s expected that some big name Avengers actors drop by to greet the masses.

If anything, this will be a prime opportunity to announce the full slate of movies making up Phase Four of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, but we can’t be too sure of anything until it’s showtime. Right now, Black Widow and The Eternals are some of the worst kept secrets in Hollywood, but it’d be nice to receive some official details straight from the source. Plus, we’re all dying to know when the likes of Doctor Strange 2, Captain Marvel 2, Black Panther 2 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 will arrive in theaters.

If something else is planned for San Diego, then one would assume the curtain will be pulled back at the D23 Expo in August. But in the view of this writer, Comic-Con is much more relevant to geek culture as a whole, so that’s why I think there’s more significance in making the big announcements there. Then again, Disney announcing Disney movies at a Disney expo seems more like their style these days, for I imagine they’d prefer if the sun never set on their empire.

Either way, this should prove to be an exciting summer for True Believers. Not only do we have the stuff discussed above to look forward to, but let’s not forget that Avengers: Endgame arrives on Blu-ray and DVD on August 13th – and you don’t need me to tell you that it’s a must-buy.
