Avengers: Endgame Writers Have No Idea If Thor Will Be In Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3

Avengers: Endgame wrapped up the stories of most of the original six Avengers, but it teased a possible exciting new direction for Thor. At the movie's close, the God of Thunder is seen hitching a ride back into space with the Guardians. He even dubs the team "the Asgardians of the Galaxy." That suggested he was there to stay, meaning many fans took it as red that Thor would be a part of Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

However, writers Stephen McFeely and Christopher Markus appear to have confirmed that they didn’t intend for the scene to be interpreted this way. While speaking on the Empire Podcast, the duo admitted that they have no idea if Thor will have a role in the upcoming threequel from James Gunn. Though obviously, it has to be said that the pair wouldn’t spill the beans even if they did.

Still, taking their comments at face value, this fits with Chris Hemsworth’s own uncertainty about where his character will go from here in the MCU. Although, the actor has also said he’d be up for joining the Benatar crew fulltime and showing up in Vol. 3. At least one of the Guardians, Karen Gillan AKA Nebula, says they’d welcome him aboard, but only if he stays as the shabbier, drunken Thor from Endgame.

If it doesn’t end up happening, though, then that might not be bad news. After all, Thor 4 is thought to be on the way. Tessa Thompson’s told us that it’s been pitched to Marvel, with herself and Korg/director Taika Waititi expected to return. A subsequent report has assured us that the film’s being discussed as well and will “definitely happen.”

What do you think would be best for the God of Thunder, though? Thor 4, or a role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3? Have your say in the comments section below.
