Beneath all the fluorescent visuals and awe-inspiring spectacle, Thor: Ragnarok will always be remembered as an inventive and often hilarious reinvention of Marvel’s Norse god.
That doesn’t mean the previous two Thor films were bad movies (though they weren’t terribly memorable) it’s just that the God of Thunder never really got the adaptation he deserved. But then Taika Waititi hopped on board the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the rest, as they say, is history.
The New Zealand filmmaker brought an infectious energy to Ragnarok – something that Thor and The Dark World – were sorely lacking, and it resulted in one of the best and most entertaining movies of 2017. But what comes next for Chris Hemsworth’s hero?
Well, Endgame left him with the Guardians of the Galaxy, teasing his involvement in Vol. 3, but what the fans really want to see is Thor 4, and they might just get it. Indeed, we’ve already heard from Tessa Thompson that talks are underway for a fourth film in the series and now, trusted tipster The Marvel Scoopster has revealed over on Reddit that the project is currently being discussed and will definitely happen.
Unfortunately, he didn’t have much more than that to share, but his intel only lends more credence to the fact that the God of Thunder’s solo adventures aren’t over just yet. Granted, we don’t know where we’ll find him next, but seeing how Guardians Vol. 3 is expected to focus mostly on the titular heroes, we imagine they may ditch Thor sometime between the conclusion of Endgame and the start of the threequel.
That’ll leave him somewhere in the galaxy without much to do, but I’m willing to bet Taika Waititi can work something beautiful out from that blank canvas for Thor 4.
