There’s never been a movie quite like Avengers: Infinity War.

Sure, The Avengers and 2015’s Age of Ultron assembled vast swathes of Marvel characters in a similar fashion. But read between the lines and you’ll begin to realize that Infinity War is the culmination of a 10-year storyline – a 10-year legacy – that began with the humble release of Jon Favreau’s Iron Man movie all the way back in 2008.

It’s also unique in the sense that Thanos, the film’s primary antagonist and the one true source of chaos in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, has affected most, if not all of our leading heroes – either directly or indirectly – thereby giving them a reason to take up arms against the Mad Titan.

With that in mind, Sam Wilson (Falcon) himself, Anthony Mackie recently warned fans of the “shocking moments” to come in Avengers: Infinity War.

Avengers 3 is going to be very different and they’re gonna be a lot of shocking moments. And I think the fans are gonna get more than they expect out of this movie, from all characters. I think this is the most human of the Avengers movies, of all the Marvel movies. So I think you’ll be really surprised to see how normal these superheroes could be. It’s a very very interesting storyline that we’ve chosen to tell. Like I said, it just gives a humanity to all the characters.

It’s by no means the first time that one of Infinity War‘s cast members has drawn attention to the film’s stakes – nor is it likely to be the last – but it’s also interesting to hear Mackie call Avengers 3 the “most human” of all Marvel movies thus far. Perhaps it’s best bringing a packet of tissues to the theater next month? You know, just in case

Avengers: Infinity War has been scheduled for a global release on April 27th, which tells us that, yes, the end is near.
