The Avengers: Infinity War Cast Didn’t Receive Full Scripts

Avengers: Infinity War is by far the biggest movie to come out of the Marvel Cinematic Universe to date - and when it arrives next year, it's likely to become one of the most successful films ever. It's natural, then, that Marvel Studios is keen to control spoilers and what leaks out about the production before they want it to. According to one member of the massive ensemble cast, that extended to not even showing the full script to the actors.

While chatting on The Late Show With Stephen Colbert, Elizabeth Olsen – who plays Wanda Maximoff AKA Scarlet Witch – revealed that Marvel only gave the cast their own scenes to read and that she’s looking forward to seeing the whole movie and making sense of the story.

“This time, they actually decided to not give us scripts. They gave me my pages and then they explained other things that are happening…. I’ll be so shocked and surprised. I’ll be like ‘Oh I see, that’s what was happening to the world at that time.’”

This is a pretty interesting bit of info as no Infinity War actor has talked about it before. Sure, both Tom Holland and Dave Bautista have spoken about only reading their scenes and not the full script, but they came up with different explanations for why that is. Holland joked that Marvel didn’t trust him not to spoil it to the press while Bautista said he didn’t want to ruin the experience of watching it in the theatre.

Filming on Avengers: Infinity War wrapped up last month, with production on Avengers 4 expected to start very soon. Presumably, Marvel will employ the same system on that movie as well and only supply Elizabeth Olsen and the rest of the cast with as little of the script as they can get away with. Thankfully though, all this secrecy will finally be over, at least in some part, when Avengers: Infinity War lands in cinemas on May 4th, 2018.
