Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War

GMA’s Infinity War Showcase Won’t Herald A New Trailer After All

Paul Bettany, Karen Gillan, and Sebastian Stan are all scheduled to appear on GMA next week, but chances of a new Avengers: Infinity War trailer are reportedly slim.

Though Marvel Studios (and the rest of the world!) is currently basking in the aura of Black Panther, there’s another MCU tentpole on the horizon. And no, we’re not referring to Ant-Man and the Wasp.

Its name? Avengers: Infinity War, Joe and Anthony Russo’s Herculean blockbuster that’s poised to launch superhero movies to dizzying new heights in three months’ time.

So far, we’ve laid eyes on two official Infinity War promos: one teaser, and one Super Bowl spot designed to drum up hype for what is undoubtedly the MCU’s biggest movie yet. And while there have been rumblings of a full-length trailer hitting the interwebs next week, we now have confirmation that Marvel plans to hold fire until later in the year.

That initial speculation can be traced back to next week’s episode of Good Morning America, which will herald guest appearances from Paul Bettany (Vision), Karen Gillan (Nebula), and Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes). Having three of the most prominent Infinity War stars on the show simultaneously will surely lead to some new footage, but don’t hold your breath for that fabled trailer, as Disney has confirmed as much via Marvel Studio News.

Avengers Good Morning America

So, there you have it; turns out we’ll have to wait that little bit longer until Marvel lifts the lid on Infinity War‘s full-length trailer. It’s a smart strategy, really, lest the Powers That Be undercut the momentum generated by Ryan Coogler’s Black Panther movie.

One way or another, Avengers: Infinity War is due to arrive in theaters on May 4th. And we’ll be keeping track of Marvel’s ensemble piece every step of the way.
