Thanos Throws The Moon In New Avengers: Infinity War Promo

The Mad Titan hurls chunks of a nearby moon at Earth's Mightiest Heroes in this newly-unveiled promo for Avengers: Infinity War.

“Tell me his name again…”

You’ve heard of the Sorcerer Supreme and King T’Challa, but what about Marvel’s Mad Titan?

Otherwise known as Thanos, the chief antagonist of Avengers: Infinity War (and indeed the entire MCU thus far) is a being of untold power. His cosmic roots can be traced back to the doomed world of Titan, where he was ousted for his genius, physical deviancy, and “pragmatic but monstrous ideas.” Yikes.

But now, Thanos plans to utilize the power of all six Infinity Stones – namely Time, Reality, Power, Mind, Soul and Space – to wipe out half the universe in a last-ditch attempt to save Titan. He’s the Marvel equivalent of a Machiavellian, essentially, and up above you’ll be able to see the scene in which Josh Brolin’s big bad hurls chunks of a nearby moon toward Earth’s Mightiest Heroes. It’s a battle royale that likely takes place on Titan itself, given the red-orange hues, but we’ll have to wait until April 27th before we have a concrete answer.

Moreover, we don’t actually get to see the shot of Thanos bending gravity to his will; rather, this intense promo shows the aftermath, as a hail of meteors rain down upon our unsuspecting heroes.

Other than that, it’s more of the same from Marvel Studios, which isn’t necessarily a bad thing when you consider that Avengers: Infinity War is only nine days (!) out from its theatrical release. And the fact that Joe and Anthony Russo – along with the sequel’s leading stars – have asked fans to refrain from divulging spoilers leaves us feeling hopeful that the Internet will honor their public plea.

Guess we’ll find out once Infinity War begins its global rollout on April 27th, eh?
