Every MCU Plot Thread Will Be Paid Off In Avengers: Infinity War And Its Sequel

Touching on what Avengers: Infinity War and its sequel will offer, Kevin Feige teased that they'll address every MCU plot thus far.

As we inch closer and closer to the release of Avengers: Infinity War, it’s becoming more and more clear just how absolutely massive it’s going to be. Acting as the culmination of the past 10 years of the Marvel Cinematic Universe – which consists of 18 movies, for those keeping track – it’s got a lot to juggle, with nearly every MCU character finding themselves involved in some way and tons of loose, dangling plot threads to tie up.

Of course, it won’t have to shoulder that burden alone, as the currently untitled Avengers 4 will pick up wherever Infinity War leaves off. But between the two of them, we’ll finally get a conclusion to a decade’s worth of storylines and character arcs, and if you think a few things might be overlooked or ignored, then think again.

Speaking in a special feature on the upcoming Thor: Ragnarok Blu-ray, producer Kevin Feige assured fans that every MCU plot will find a “narrative thread” either in Infinity War or its sequel.

“Every story that Marvel has told since Iron Man 1 finds a narrative thread in these next two Avengers movies. It is a culmination of all that storytelling.”

Continuing on, he stressed that every “little thread and tease” will be paid off here.

“With Infinity War, we’re paying off every little thread and every little tease that we’ve had in what will be 18 films prior to Infinity War. There’s never been anything like this. Being able to, film after film, tease at a larger story. Really building these stories up into a giant conclusion. While at the same time introducing an entirely new direction for the future.”

That’s definitely exciting to hear, and in just a few short months, we’ll get to find out for ourselves what all the fuss is about, as Avengers: Infinity War crashes into theaters on May 4th. And with Avengers 4 right around the corner, too, it’s fair to say that the MCU is about to undergo a significant shake-up.
