“Perfectly balanced, as all things should be.”
Who says you need six Infinity Stones to wield the greatest power in the universe? Over on Reddit, for instance, the moderators behind ‘r/ThanosDidNothingWrong’ have announced plans to take their Avengers: Infinity War fandom to an entirely new, meme-worthy level.
On July 9th, the Internet’s most popular Thanos subreddit (310,000 members at press time) will have its population halved, as Reddit mods ban precisely 50 percent of its userbase at random in honor of the Mad Titan’s ultimate goal:Â reduce half of all life in the universe to dust in order to protect the remaining survivors from overpopulation and the starvation that follows.
And as this is the Internet, it hasn’t taken long for Thanos’ ploy to be turned into a meme – or, in the case of this particular subreddit, a digital rapture the likes of which we’ve haven’t seen before.
The online community continues to grow and expand by the hour, so there’s really no telling how many Redditors will be hit with the ban hammer come Monday. Whatever the case, there’s a good chance this could become one of the biggest randomized cullings in the site’s history, so perhaps it’s a good thing it was postponed from July 4th…
Half of all life in the universe the 300,000 members belonging to ‘r/thanosdidnothingwrong’ will be banned at random on Monday, July 9th – three days after Ant-Man and the Wasp checks into theaters. The duo were left on the sidelines all throughout Infinity War though, so it remains to be seen whether they fall prey to The Snappening as well.
