No matter which way you swing it, Avengers: Infinity War marks a defining moment for the MCU and Marvel Studios as a whole.
It’s going on 10 years since the release and subsequent success of Iron Man, and the likes of Kevin Feige and über-producer Louis D’Esposito haven’t stopped since, dazzling audiences with supercharged treats as rich and varied as they come – just look at the nuances of Black Panther and Spider-Man: Homecoming for evidence of the MCU’s on-screen diversity.
Speaking of the latter, Tom Holland was recently asked about the ways in which his Peter Parker has matured since coming to blows with the Vulture. A lot, it seems, after the young British star told HeyUGuys:
A lot. A lot has changed. He is taking on something that is bigger than any of the Avengers could possibly have imagined from the beginning of the MCU so you can imagine he’s a little bit out of his depth but as Peter Parker always does he figures out a way to try.
And that’s not all. As we learned just yesterday, Holland’s friendly neighborhood Spider-Man can now be classed as an Avenger – we did see Tony Stark knight him during one of Infinity War‘s recent TV spots – even if his Iron Spider-inspired suit will always remain in the realm of science fiction, not science fact.
Overall, though, Avengers: Infinity War will feature scenes/battles that are unlike anything we’ve ever seen from the MCU. Or so says Tom Hiddleston:
The reason they’re not screening the whole film is because there are so many new things that happen in it, things that’ve never happened before in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, that it’s just more exciting if everyone in the world sees the film at the same time.
And it all kicks off on April 27th.
