As we wait for the arrival of the first official trailer for Avengers: Infinity War, which is set to drop in early December, Vanity Fair is on hand to whet our appetite with its latest issue. A whopping 35 characters from Marvel’s upcoming team-up extravaganza united for VF’s four alternate covers and the accompanying photoshoot, giving us a great look at all our favorite heroes.

The characters showcased here are (OK, here we go, take a deep breath): Captain America (Chris Evans), Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.), Thor (Chris Evans), Black Widow (Scarlett Johansson), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Hawkeye (Jeremy Renner), Spider-Man (Tom Holland), Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Vision (Paul Bettany), Star-Lord (Chris Pratt), Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Drax (Dave Bautista), Gamora (Zoe Saldana), Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch), Winter Soldier (Sebastian Stan), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), War Machine (Don Cheadle), Wasp (Evangeline Lilly), Mantis (Pom Klementieff), Nebula (Karen Gillan), Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow), Nick Fury (Samuel L Jackson), Maria Hill (Cobie Smulders), Wong (Benedict Wong), Ramonda (Angela Bassett), Shuri (Letitia Wright), Nakia (Danai Gurira), Hank Pym (Michael Douglas), Happy Hogan (Jon Favreau), Laura Barton (Linda Cardellini), Rocket, Groot and Stan Lee. Oh, and producer Kevin Feige to boot.

Apart from the joy of seeing all these characters crossing over for the first time, these photos give us our best glimpse yet and how the heroes will appear in Infinity War. Most are very familiar compared to how they looked in previous movies, but there are a few notable differences.

For instance, check out Hawkeye’s new ‘do, which we’ve already glimpsed in set photos. Chris Evans is also clean shaven and in his full Cap outfit, suggesting that the bearded Nomad look we’ve previously seen won’t last for all that long. Also, Natasha Romanoff’s gone blonde and has swapped her sleek catsuit for something more armoured.

As impressive as this get together is, a few major players from the movie are still missing. As the photoshoot focused on the heroes and their supporting cast, Infinity War‘s villains and more ambiguous characters are left out. For instance, Tom Hiddleston’s Loki, Benicio Del Toro’s Collector and, of course, Josh Brolin’s Mad Titan Thanos.

Still, this is just what we needed to keep us going until the Avengers: Infinity War trailer arrives, and should most definitely put a smile on the faces of fans.
