Avengers: Infinity War Wins Movie Of The Year At 2018 People’s Choice Awards

As the most-watched film of the year by a pretty solid margin, it should come as little surprise to learn that Avengers: Infinity War has been voted by the general public as the “Movie of 2018,” taking home the top prize at last night’s 44th Annual E! People's Choice Awards.

As the most-watched film of the year by a pretty solid margin, it should come as little surprise to learn that Avengers: Infinity War has also been voted “Movie of 2018” by the general public, taking home the top prize at last night’s 44th Annual E! People’s Choice Awards.

The honor was one of five that Marvel Studios earned that evening, in a haul which also included the prizes for Male & Female Movie Star of the Year (Chadwick Boseman and Scarlett Johansson, respectively), Action Star of the Year (Danai Gurira), and Best Action Movie of the Year (Infinity War). And with Disney gunning for a total of eleven Oscars for the ensemble action flick, it seems that the studio has no intention of seeing Infinity War’s round of plaudits stop here.

The list of Academy Awards that Anthony and Joe Russo’s latest film could be up for include Best Director, Best Adapted Screenplay, Best Film Editing, Best Cinematography, Best Production Design, Best Visual Effects, Best Costume Design, Best Makeup & Hairstyling, Best Sound Mixing, Best Sound Editing, and Best Original Score. But while the movie stands a pretty good chance with the technical awards, it feels more realistic at this point to predict that the more ‘serious’ prizes that Marvel nabs this year – Oscar and otherwise – will come courtesy of Black Panther, with Ryan Coogler’s feature garnering perhaps the strongest reviews of any MCU flick thus far.

But regardless of whether Avengers: Infinity War will have any further award boasts to slap on future Blu-Ray covers, it’s pretty clear that the public is excited enough already about Avengers 4, which is all set to be another box office smash when it hits theaters on May 3rd, 2019.
