Awesome Black Widow Fan Poster Tees Up The MCU Prequel

With director Cate Shortland prepared to sign along the dotted line, artist BossLogic has rendered a really rather awesome fan poster for Black Widow.

Not for the first time, artist BossLogic has produced a mock MCU poster for the Black Widow movie, and this one is damn near perfect.

It arrives in good time, too, as Marvel Studios just announced Cate Shortland as the director of Natasha Romanoff’s origins pic – a franchise first, no less – which will reportedly be angled as an MCU prequel set before the events of Joss Whedon’s Avengers movie.

And so, proving he has one of the quickest turnarounds in the business – it wasn’t too long ago that we were poring over every detail of his Joker concept art – BossLogic has rolled out his new piece in honor of Marvel’s standalone Black Widow film. And it’s a doozy. It’s admittedly much more minimalist than his previous one-sheet, but the renown artist still raised a glass to his fellow Aussie on landing the coveted gig, writing: Congratulations to @marvelstudios #blackwidow movie finding its director and she is from Australia Cate Shortland.

We should stress that the credits and May 2020 release date are merely placeholders, as it’s far too early in the process for Marvel Studios to announce an ETA for Natasha Romanoff’s spinoff.

Be that as it may, there’s a very good chance that Jeremy Renner (Hawkeye), Cobie Smulders (Maria Hill) and Samuel L. Jackson (Nick Fury) will feature in some capacity, while some Marvel fans believe that a cameo from Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes is a foregone conclusion.

If that’s the case, it would give both characters an avenue to continue their MCU tenure far beyond Avengers 4, though we’ll have to wait until Black Widow begins to coalesce before we have any firm details of Natasha’s next steps.
