Could There Be Another Batman V Superman Movie In The DCEU?

A Batman/Superman crossover movie had been in the works for a long time before 2016, so Warner Bros. had high, high hopes for Zack Snyder's Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. Unfortunately, though, it's gone down as one of the most infamous entries in the superhero genre. True, it has a legion of ardent fans and it made a heck of a lot of money, but the critical hammering it received spelled the beginning of the end for DC's plans to create a tight-knit shared universe to rival the MCU.

Since then, the DCEU has flourished by creating standalone films with their own distinct tones, like Wonder Woman and Aquaman. As we’ve previously reported, though, We Got This Covered’s been informed by a source that WB is looking to restart the continuity of the franchise going forward. The pre-existing heroes will remain as part of the old DCEU, but any upcoming properties will be part of a new continuity. We’re wondering, then, does this mean there could be a chance of another Batman V Superman movie in the future?

While we haven’t heard anything about another Dark Knight/Man of Steel crossover film being in the works, we have been told that the upcoming Supergirl movie will be part of the same continuity as The Batman, just as all new films – excluding Joker and other Elseworlds-type projects – will be. This might not materialize in any way on screen, but it’s the intention of the filmmakers that they’re part of the same universe.

It’s worth speculating, then, that once Robert Pattinson has settled in as Batman and the next Superman after Cavill has been cast and made the role their own – because remember, Supergirl will reboot the Kryptonian side of the DCEU – maybe WB will potentially consider doing another crossover between their two most iconic heroes?

Time will tell, of course, but it certainly seems like a possibility given that we’ll be getting a new Caped Crusader and Last Son of Krypton. Even if this is just a pipe dream though, there’s still plenty to look forward to in the Worlds of DC in the near future and we can’t wait to see how the franchise evolves from here.
