It’s getting a bit difficult to keep up with all of the villain and hero appearances rumored for Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, especially with that fake script floating around. Before we jump into the latest rumor to hit the web though, let’s run down what we officially know.

The likes of Superman, Batman and Wonder Woman are all guaranteed to appear and have been cast. Victor Stone a.k.a. Cyborg will also have a small cameo, played by Ray Fisher, that will set him up for a future Justice League appearance. Then there’s Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor, Jeremy Irons as Alfred, and returning Man of Steel cast members Amy Adams and Laurence Fishburne.

That’s it. Now, as far as rumors go, there have been plenty. We’re pretty sure Aquaman will have a small cameo as well, and that he’ll be played by Jason Momoa, but even that is lacking an official announcement.

Remember that rumor about the four possible additional villains accompanying Lex Luthor in the film? Well, it turns out that that particular scoop came from the fake script (which may or may not be a false rumor in of itself), so it’s unlikely that we’ll be seeing the likes of Victor Zsasz, Amanda Waller, David Cain and Morgan Edge.

So, keep all of that in mind when reading new speculation surrounding the film. Until we hear actual announcements from Warner Brothers or Zack Snyder, all news about the movie is to be taken with a Daily Planet globe-sized grain of salt.

With that said, the latest rumor about the film suggests that Doomsday will be making an appearance. According to Bleeding Cool, some of their “rather reliable” sources have seen designs for the character. They do caution, however, that the designs may not even end up in the final film, and could either be for promotional purposes or just not make the final cut. It certainly wouldn’t be the first time concept art and ideas were abandoned once production went underway, so it’s definitely possible that Doomsday was, at some point, part of the plan, but may have fallen by the wayside as the film took shape and underwent rewrites from Argo scribe Chris Terrio.

If Doomsday is in the film, it would most certainly be to set him up for future appearances. For those unfamiliar with the character, the monstrous creature is famous for killing the Man of Steel. Fans have been dying to see him and Superman face off on the big screen for years, so I wouldn’t be too surprised if he shows up in the new DC Cinematic Universe at some point. Now, the only question is, when he does, will Superman come out of it alive?

Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice hits theaters on May 6th, 2016. Hopefully by then we’ll have a lot more answers.
