UPDATE: It’s come to our attention that this is not genuine and was taken from an FX prop. Thanks to those who pointed this out to us.
While it could still be at least a couple more months before we find out who the next Caped Crusader is, we may already have our first impression of the suit to be worn by the star of Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
An early art design for the outfit has leaked to We Got This Covered that you can view below, and though the image keeps most of the familiar elements from your standard Batman costume, it’s said that Reeves specifically asked for those white eyes. Of course, the design could always change in the time between now and the start of production near the end of this year, but it’s nice to have some idea of the look that Reeves might be going for, especially when concrete details on The Batman are in such short supply.
In recent weeks, the internet has seen the emergence of several reports suggesting actors who could be in the running to play the next Bruce Wayne. For a while, Armie Hammer was the subject of much discussion, before the Call Me by Your Name star repeatedly shot down the rumor that he was in final talks for the part. Since then, Geeks WorldWide has released a list of names that are allegedly being considered, including X-Men series regular Nicholas Hoult and Kick-Ass lead Aaron Taylor-Johnson.
At this point, one of the few things we can be sure of is that the next Dark Knight will be significantly younger than the Ben Affleck version, since The Batman is set to take us back to the days when Bruce was still relatively new to the crime-fighting game. And we’ll find out how he fares against a so-called “Rogues Gallery” of villains when the film hits theaters on June 25th, 2021.
