Thus far, almost everyone has been confirmed to be returning for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2., Marvel’s highly-anticipated sequel that’s set to arrive in 2017. The James Gunn-directed flick will see the titular Guardians back in action along with both Yondu and Nebula. In fact, everyone had been accounted for except The Collector. That is, until now.
Latino-Review is reporting that Benicio del Toro will be back for the sequel as Taneleer Tivan AKA The Collector. Del Toro’s co-star, Zoe Saldana, confirmed the news earlier today on Facebook, though no further details were given about how he’ll factor into things this time around. After all, it seemed like he did what he needed to in the first film, providing more than enough backstory on the Infinity Stones and bridging the gap between Guardians and Thor: The Dark World.

Also, with Star Wars: Episode VIII on his plate, in addition to a proposed Sicario spinoff, how much time will the actor have to devote to Gunn’s sequel? Only time will tell, of course, but whatever turns out to be the case, we’re certainly happy to hear that del Toro will be back to reprise his role.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will blast into theatres on May 5th, 2017.
