Black Mask Gets His Face Bloodied In Birds Of Prey Set Photos

While production for the upcoming Birds of Prey has offered a generous array of set photos, Ewan McGregor’s Black Mask has remained one of the film’s more mysterious characters, partly because we’ve yet to get a clear, well-lit glimpse of the villain in his actual black mask. But for what it’s worth, the Trainspotting star was recently spotted on set once more, and he’s looking a little worse for wear.

As you can see below, some blood has been applied to McGregor’s face, suggesting that Roman Sionis’ latest encounter with Harley Quinn and her new set of friends may have left him in a bad state. If he wasn’t wearing a mask before this injury, then now might be a good time to start.

As a little bonus, some footage from an action scene has also recently emerged that sees Harley hanging onto the back of a car. If previous set photos are anything to go by, then Black Mask might well be sitting in the back of that vehicle, along with a presumably kidnapped Cassandra Cain, played by Ella Jay Basco.

While Margot Robbie remains the most frequent cast member to show up in the movie’s various set material, Birds of Prey is still a team-up pic, and so Harley will find some new allies in Black Canary, Huntress and Renee Montoya, played by Jurnee Smollett-Bell, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Rosie Perez, respectively.

According to early reports, the story will see the four heroines band together to save Cassandra from Black Mask, and we’ll find out how they fare in their mission when Birds of Prey hits theaters on February 7th, 2020. In the meantime, the DCEU’s next feature is just around the corner, with Shazam! set for release on April 5th, 2019.
