Can We Expect Killmonger To Return For Black Panther 2?

Michael B. Jordan's Erik Stevens (AKA Killmonger) has been linked with a possible cameo role in Black Panther 2, Metro.co.uk has learned.

Amid speculation that Donald Glover of Solo: A Star Wars Story has met with Ryan Coogler about a possible villain role in Black Panther 2, we’re now learning that Michael B. Jordan’s Erik Stevens (AKA Killmonger) has been linked with a cameo appearance.

Word comes to us by way of Metro.co.uk – the same source of this morning’s Glover scoop – where one anonymous tipster alleges that Coogler is still drawing up plans for his Black Panther sequel, and the end product may well spell the return of Erik Killmonger.

Chances are Coogler is considering some form of flashback scene or, failing that, another trip to Wakanda’s ancestral plane, where the deceased Erik Stevens is rubbing shoulders with his fallen forefathers. Of course, without a release window or even a production start date to call its own, it’s still early, early days for Black Panther 2, so take this ‘scoop’ with a pinch of salt.

One of those characters, if he gets his wish, will be played by Childish Gambino [Glover’s musical moniker]. Nothing is set in stone, but ‘informal talks’ [are happening] between Ryan, Gambino, and reps from Marvel and Disney to see if they can make it happen. They’re still yet to decide if Michael B Jordan will return in some capacity but if he doesn’t it’s likely Gambino may play some kind of villain.

Perhaps the biggest thing standing in the way of Donald Glover’s potential casting is the fact that the creative powerhouse has already appeared in the MCU, given he played low-level crook Aaron Davis (AKA The Prowler) for Spider-Man: Homecoming. With that in mind, is Ryan Coogler mulling over the possibility of bringing Davis to Wakanda?

It’s certainly possible, as Homecoming dabbled with The Avengers fallout and what happens when cutting-edge weaponry falls into the wrong hands. Just imagine the Prowler’s face if he snuck into Wakanda…

Alas, Black Panther 2 is still gestating in the early stages of development, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on Ryan Coogler’s superhero sequel over the coming months.
