Black Widow Star Wants A Future Crossover With Deadpool

Independent contractor Rick Mason thinks Deadpool could use some help.

The latest Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) film, Black Widow, laid the groundwork for plenty of projects coming during Phase Four. But one of its cast members has suggested yet another crossover they’d like to see go down in the MCU.

O-T Fagbenle played the role of Rick Mason, a former S.H.I.E.L.D agent turned independent contractor capable of acquiring weaponry and other items as seen during Black Widow when he helps secure Natasha Romanoff with aircraft transport. In an interview with Comicbook.com, Fagbenle shared which fellow Marvel alumni he’d like to work with in the future with his favorite choice being for Mason to “play around” within the world of Wakanda, or team up with an unlikely MCU newcomer.

“I mean listen, there are a lot,” Fagneble said. “I think there’s no doubt the who Black Panther community. I think Mason could do great work there… My number one might be Deadpool. I think Deadpool could probably do with a bit of help.”

While the pairing of Mason with Wade Wilson does seem unlikely, Deadpool’s entry into the MCU is imminent after Disney’s acquisition of Fox. Earlier today, in fact, Deadpool had his first interaction with the MCU when Ryan Reynolds posted a YouTube video in which he, as Deadpool, reviewed his newest film with Korg.

As far as a timeline for Mason to make a return, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever has begun production, which could be the perfect place to bring Mason back to the MCU if a quick turnaround is in mind.

For Deadpool fans, there isn’t yet a release date on the highly-anticipated Deadpool 3 and no information regarding its plot has been shared. The most realistic place for Fagneble’s Mason character to return would seemingly be in the Hawkeye Disney+ series along with rumored Black Widow co-star Florence Pugh.
