‘Blue Beetle’ hits theaters in 39 days, and DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has no idea when the next trailer drops

It's almost like DC has given up already.

Everyone knows at this stage that Warner Bros. is pretty much broke, with the company auctioning off the distribution rights to a string of HBO classics to Netflix while canceling original content left, right, and center in an effort to shave as much money off the budget as possible. As a result, it’s created genuine concern around Blue Beetle‘s box office prospects, and with good reason.

Thanks to Shazam! Fury of the Gods and The Flash crashing and burning at the box office to lose a combined amount of money that’s in serious danger of blowing past $300 million by the time the dust settles, a lot of people are already predicting the worst for both the upcoming August release and December’s Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom.

Black Adam being the DCU’s highest-grossing release in the last half a decade is something nobody could have seen coming – especially when it didn’t even manage to cross $400 million in ticket sales – but you know things are bad when not even the co-CEO of the entire studio knows when Blue Beetle is getting another trailer.

Despite being just 39 days away from landing on the big screen, James Gunn responded to a fan demanding the second full-length promo for the impending blockbuster, and could only reveal that “I’ll try to find out when.” Of course, he’s plenty busy on the many duties that fall under the purview of overseeing an entire superhero universe, but you’d at least think the man in charge would have an inkling of when that follow-up trailer will arrive.
