Warner Bros. is broke, so don’t expect ‘The Flash’ to get the ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ treatment on streaming

It's unlikely the studio will throw even more money away.

You really couldn’t make it up that The Flash ended up going full-blown Thor: Love and Thunder in its very first action sequence by having Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen poke his head through the very fabric of reality.

That was a good indicator to many that the DCU’s latest $200 million epic was going to suffer from the same fate of being over-hyped and under-delivering as Taika Waititi’s widely-derided Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster, but at least Kevin Feige’s team did make some alterations to touch up the corporeal cranium by the time Love and Thunder landed on Disney Plus.

However, anyone who thinks even for a second that The Flash‘s horrendous CGI might be in with a shot of getting a touch-up ahead of its own on-demand debut should probably temper those expectations, for the sole reason that Warner Bros. Discovery is pretty much broke and desperate to shave billions off its expenses.

Andy Muschietti’s multiversal adventure already cost $200 million to produce and at least $100 million more to market, and having bombed at the box office, it’s on course to wind up as one of the biggest flops in the history of cinema. With that in mind, is the studio going to be concerned in the slightest about funneling even more money into a project that’s destined to lose hundreds of millions of dollars already for the sole purpose of addressing one of the biggest recurring complaints?

We’d be very surprised, to put it lightly, with the smart money best being put on The Flash existing forevermore as an unfortunate eyesore that ended up in a red deeper and more vibrant than its title hero’s costume.
