Brace For Biblical Destruction With Official Synopsis For Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse

If there was ever any doubt regarding the scale and scope of Bryan Singer’s X-Men: Apocalypse, let it be know that the threequel is shaping up to be one of – if not the – most mythic installment in the series to date. Sure, it borders on hyperbole, but today 20th Century Fox revealed the official synopsis for the film in partnership with Mars Chocolate North America, and it’s a doozy.

As part of the deal, the studio unveiled the threequel’s tantalizing logline alongside a teaser image for Apocalypse, which sees Magneto and Storm – portrayed by Michael Fassbender and Alexandra Shipp, respectively – stylized as M&Ms.

How and ever, it’s the plot synopsis that acts as the main takeaway from today’s announcement. Not only does it give us some indication of the power and ancient aura of Oscar Isaac’s title baddie, it also teases at the ways in which Bryan Singer’s tentpole release will affect the overarching X-Men universe as a whole. Color us intrigued.

“Since the dawn of civilization, he was worshiped as a god. Apocalypse, the first and most powerful mutant from Marvel’s X-Men universe, amassed the powers of many other mutants, becoming immortal and invincible. Upon awakening after thousands of years, he is disillusioned with the world as he finds it and recruits a team of powerful mutants, including a disheartened Magneto (Michael Fassbender), to cleanse mankind and create a new world order, over which he will reign. As the fate of the Earth hangs in the balance, Raven (Jennifer Lawrence) with the help of Professor X (James McAvoy) must lead a team of young X-Men to stop their greatest nemesis and save mankind from complete destruction.”

X-Men: Apocalypse will wreak destruction on man and mutantkind alike when Bryan Singer’s biblical threequel arrives on May 27, 2016. Below, you’ll find the aforementioned cute crossover featuring Magento and Storm as M&Ms.
