Because Marvel have taken over the cinema as we know it and the world is no longer capable of waiting for a trailer without watching a trailer for that trailer, yesterday saw less than twenty seconds of Iron Man 3 footage emerging in a kind of… uh… pre-trailer. Which the world went crazy for, as expected.

The full trailer is out tomorrow, but you can get a glimpse of some brand new images, and the first poster from upcoming Robert Downey Jr. movie Iron Man 3 below.

These images depict Tony Stark and Pepper Potts (Gwyneth Paltrow) frolicking in the midst of their new found love, although one of the images shows Potts examining a bashed-up helmet for reasons currently unknown – is Tony going to take a serious beating? There’s even an exciting new image of the Patriot Iron Man suit, which looks all lovely and political in shiny blue and red. We also get our first look at Ben Kingsley’s Mandarin.

Iron Man 3 is set in the months following the events of The Avengers: having saved the world from an angry alien race, Tony Stark will be coming up against a new enemy – The Mandarin (Ben Kingsley) – and will have to do so without the use of all his inventions and toys, apparently. That means it’s all up to that big ol’ brain of his if he wants to survive.

It’s written and directed by the brilliant Shane Black, whose Lethal Weapon and Kiss Kiss, Bang Bang scripts are so witty and cool that they’ve practically got “this man should write and direct an Iron Man movie” scrawled all over them. Which they don’t, because that wouldn’t make sense at all.

So, do these new images get you all excited about watching Tony Stark back in action? Are you salivating at the prospect of another Marvel movie lingering on the horizon? Kindly let us know in the comments section below.
