Die Hard 5 seemed to be moving ahead in June when Noam Murro had signed on to helm the next film in the series. But with his latest commitment to the 300 prequel, Battle of Artemisia, the director has stepped down from the fourth sequel in the Die Hard franchise.

Twitch Film is reporting that while there has been no official word yet on who will replace Murro, Behind Enemy Lines director John Moore has been offered directing duties.

There also isn’t any information on what Die Hard 5 will be about but the film, which is being scripted by X-Men Origins: Wolverine scribe Skip Woods, will reportedly move overseas to Russia. Bruce Willis‘ New York police detective John McClane will travel there with his son, and the two will be drawn into a conflict with local forces.

Willis has said that he would like to see Live Free or Die Hard director Len Wiseman return to the series. However, the director is busy helming the Total Recall remake and producing Underworld: Awakenings.

So as of now, the project is in need of a director. We’ll keep you updated on any further developments but in the meantime, tell us, who would you like to see direct the film?
