This being Throwback Thursday and all, Reddit has uncovered a candid, behind-the-scenes pic of RDJ’s Avenger just as he begins to unravel his family legacy.

Iron Man 2 also adapted the “Demon in a Bottle” story famous for its portrayal of Tony Stark’s alcoholism, and while many felt that Jon Favreau’s follow-up was too busy laying the groundwork for future Marvel movies, there’s still a lot of enjoyment to be weaned from Stark’s second solo outing.

And below, you’ll find Kevin Feige sans baseball cap looking over the shoulder of Robert Downey Jr., who appears to be sporting thick black boots stuffed with padding – likely to give him a little boost in the height department once the cameras started rolling.

It’s been eight long years since Iron Man 2 released in theaters, and it’s fair to say that the MCU has ballooned in size, encompassing everything from Black Panther to Ant-Man and the Wasp. The Disney-backed franchise also reached something of a flashpoint earlier this year thanks to Avengers: Infinity War, though we’ll have to wait until 2019 before we see the conclusion to Joe and Anthony Russo’s two-part saga.

That means Tony Stark’s Iron Man is fast approaching the end of his tether, and will likely be phased out of the MCU to allow room for Marvel’s new generation of heroes – namely Spider-Man, Doctor Strange, Panther and the soon-to-be-unveiled Captain Marvel, the latter of whom is expected to take flight for her own solo adventure early next year.
