When Marvel Studios and Sony Pictures made a deal to bring Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it was widely reported that a big part of that included heroes from The Avengers franchise appearing in the wall-crawler’s solo outing (after all, high profile cameos like that are sure to boost the character’s chances of box office success after the disappointing The Amazing Spider-Man 2).
Well, that now looks set to be the case, with a new article pointing to both Captain America and Iron Man showing up in the Jon Watts helmed Spider-Man reboot. They don’t point to insiders as their source of information though; instead, it seems like Robert Downey Jr. may have spilled the beans.
[zergpaid]When he and Chris Evans appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live last week, the actor pointed out that they would both be returning to Atlanta in the near future. As of right now, the only Marvel movies set to shoot there are Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2 and Spider-Man, and while it’s certainly possible that Downey Jr. was referring to Avengers: Infinity War, that’s still a long way off and it’s hard to imagine a shooting location having been decided on at this stage. Reshoots are certainly one possibility, but Spider-Man seems just as plausible.
Unfortunately, we’re just going to have to wait and see for the time being, but Captain America and Iron Man factoring into Spider-Man definitely makes the reboot all the more exciting.
