Mckenna Grace is currently in the midst of a big year, between her turn as a young Carol Danvers in Captain Marvel and her leading role in the upcoming Annabelle Comes Home. And speaking of movies where the 12-year-old actress contends with sinister paranormal forces, THR now reports that Grace is set to star in Ghostbusters 3.
Grace will be joining previously reported cast members Finn Wolfhard (Stranger Things) and Carrie Coon (The Leftovers) for Jason Reitman’s upcoming sequel, which is said to continue in the continuity of the franchise’s first two movies. The actress has been described as the ostensible lead of the film, with Wolfhard playing her brother and Coon her single mother. Beyond her turn as the title character in Captain Marvel and her imminent introduction to the Conjuring Universe, Grace also took the lead opposite Viola Davis in new comedy Troop Zero, which was met with favorable reviews after its Sundance premiere last month.
But going back to Ghostbusters 3, the movie is expected to begin filming this summer, and is said to star four teens. According to recent reports, the lineup will include a young girl with an interest in science and a difficulty interpreting and expressing emotions, along with an older girl who’s fun-loving and “a bit of an airhead.” As for the boys, it’s thought that one will be a quick-thinker who’s at ease with technology, while the other is said to approach every situation with an “unbridled excitement for the unknown.”
We can see the new team in action when Ghostbusters 3 comes out on July 10th, 2020. In the meantime, Grace will be returning to theaters with the release of Annabelle Comes Home on June 28th, 2019.
