Ghostbusters 3 Breakdowns Reveal The Lead Characters

It’s been almost a month now since the surprise announcement dropped that Jason Reitman was working on a Ghostbusters 3 that follows in the continuity of the original two movies helmed by his father Ivan Reitman. And while official details have been few and far between ever since that initial outpouring of material, these last few weeks have seen quite a few reports making the rounds that form an increasingly convincing picture of the movie’s young leads.

We’ve been hearing for some time now that the film will star four kids in the late-preteen to early-teen age range, but while we’ve already been told a fair amount about two of these characters, a new report from HN Entertainment alleges info on the other half of the group.

On the one hand, you have the unnamed 12-year-old male referred to as “LEAD BOY 2,” who’s described as “slender, pale,” with “dark hair, piercing blue eyes, aquiline features, high cheekbones, withdrawn.” The report adds that the child is “prodigious — bright, witty, stubborn, and remains playful in spite of hardship. He is also a brilliantly quick thinker under pressure, is at ease with technology, and has a high facility for problem-solving.” Meanwhile, you have the 13-year-old “LEAD GIRL 2,” who’s “fun-loving, a bit of an airhead,” and is “always curious, haunted, charmed, dazed.”

Though the report is yet to be confirmed, we can tentatively add this info to the previously surfaced descriptions of the other two leads, who were said to be a 12-year-old girl with an interest in science and a difficulty interpreting and expressing emotions, and a 13-year-old boy who approaches every situation with “unbridled excitement for the unknown.”

As for who from the original cast might be reprising their roles, that remains to be seen, though both Ernie Hudson and Dan Aykroyd seem game to return. Regardless, we’ll find out if the new line-up can make for an entertaining group in their own right when Ghostbusters 3 hits theaters on July 10th, 2020.
