Captain Marvel Rumored To Start Shooting Early Next Year

While Brie Larson is expected to play a role in Avengers: Infinity War, we still have no idea what to expect from Captain Marvel in Joe and Anthony Russo's film. We could see Carol Danvers' origin story or just an introduction to her as a full-fledged hero before her solo outing in a couple of years from now. Either way, fans are understandably anxious to see something of the beloved hero sooner rather than later and thankfully, it looks like they may get their wish.

That’s because we’re now hearing that Captain Marvel is set to start shooting in January. The news comes to us from the Atlanta Filming Twitter account, which has been a reliable source of information ever since Marvel Studios moved the vast majority of their productions there. Besides, the movie filming from January 2018 onwards does seem highly likely.

Chances are a director will be chosen over the summer, as previously promised, and if Larson is going to suit up as the hero for Avengers: Infinity War, a photo of her in costume (or at least some concept art) being revealed during this year’s San Diego Comic-Con seems like a good bet. If not, then we may just have to wait until pre-production kicks off much later this year.

That’s an agonizing wait for fans, but it’s still nice to be able to finally put a date on when things will kick off for Captain Marvel. As one of Phase 3’s most highly anticipated releases, this will mark the first female-led superheroouting for the studio and is therefor a big test for them. Will it succeed? Time will tell.

Captain Marvel is currently set to arrive on March 8th, 2019.
